Moisture transport system wicks the sweat from your body keeping you cool and dry.
Basegear’s heat-release mechanism keeps your skin surface as cool as possible to help maintain core body temperature– increases in core body temperature can cause muscle fatigue and slow reaction time.
Fabric is 50% lighter than a cotton T-Shirt after 60 minutes of exercise.
It releases 80% of its moisture after 30 minutes of rest, while cotton only releases 35% of its moisture after 30 minutes of rest.
All seams flat-stitched for added comfort under layering system. UV 50+ protection from sun elements helps control body temperature to reduce fatigue.
Anti-bacterial protection.

High-flow peak channels air directly into the front vents.
Twin-cam Shield Pivot System allows the face shield to operate fully under a peak that can be lowered for better aerodynamics.
Note: Can be configured with shield and peak, peak only (for use with goggles) or shield only.
Fully Removable/Replaceable and washable liner with optional sizes available for a custom fit.
4 top vents. Dual Intake / Dual Exhaust Ventilation–dual I/C top intake vents and Double Delta bridged exhaust vents designed to draw significant volumes of air
from helmet interior.
CLC (Complex Laminate Construction) shell–fiberglass composite is stronger and lighter–allows use of softer, less-dense liner materials inside for increased rider comfort.
Efficient chinbar vent (with interior and exterior controls) flows fresh air to the mouth area or across the shield interior to help prevent fogging.
Large chinbar side exhaust vents draw out additional hot air.
Meets or exceeds Snell and D.O.T. standards.
The peak/visor supplied is not suitable for high-speed use where air striking a side or
main surface of the peak may cause difficulty in returning the head to a forward and/or
level position.
Sizes Xtra Small - 2XL.

Ride Time!

My Impressions:

Quality, strong, durable, well made product.
The ability to layer for different temperatures and riding conditions.
Plenty of pockets for storing your accentual items from large to small.
Water proof & breathable makes for maximum riding comfort.
Sizing on the riding gear is spot on for North American sizing standards.
Hydration pack inside of the small rear back pack is a convenient way to carry fluids.
Plenty of venting and also loads of reflective piping.

None yet.

Bottom Line:
I have admired the First Gear riding apparel for some time and when Triumph contacted me to do a ride review on their new Triumph Tiger 800Xc, I knew what gear I wanted to wear for this adventure touring application.

The KATHMANDU Adventure Touring Gear by FIRSTGEAR was my first choice. For under garments we went with the FIRSTGEAR Base Gear Long Sleeve Shirt & Pants. Boots are the FIRSTGEAR Express style. For a helmet it was a natural to go with the new ARAI XD3.
The beauty of the Kathmandu gear is it's ability to layer up or to layer down. This gear is perfect for almost any type of riding environment or temperature. I was fortunate that when I first wore the gear, I had a chance to ride at over 7,000 feet elevation where there was still huge snow drifts on the ground. So I have ridden in freezing temps to plus 90 degrees lately and I have been able to customize my riding gear to deal with the elements quite nicely.

For visibility there is plenty of reflective piping to warn cars that you are there. The jacket has plenty of venting if the weather gets too hot for you.
Storage wise this Kathmandu gear has an abundance of pockets just dying to be filled up, and trust you that I did.
One of the things I have found with some manufactures is the sizing is way off, and unless you are there to try on your gear before you buy it, you may be in trouble. If you follow the FIRSTGEAR sizing charts you will not go wrong. From my helmet, jacket, pants, under garments to my gloves, the sizing was right on the money.

Did I mention that this gear also has it's own armor system, so in an event of a wipe out you have lots of added protection. Even with this extra armor the gear is still very comfortable to wear. In fact I think it instilled more confidence in my riding through the twisties, knowing I had such abundant protection.

Look forward to seeing this gear in more of my riding reviews. I hope nobody wants this gear back, because I am really liking wearing my Kathmandu Riding Apparel from FIRSTGEAR.

The bottom line is if you go riding, sooner or later you are going to take a spill. If you don't have good gear to protect your skin with, then you are in trouble. Also you need gear that you can wear all day long without it being uncomfortable. There is nothing worse then gear that doesn't fit or doesn't keep you warm and dry. If you want to invest in quality riding apparel that is designed for you the Adventure Touring Rider, then ask your local dealer for FIRSTGEAR.
