My Impressions:
Pros:
Cons:
None yet.
Bottom Line:
Last winter I had some serious issues with my sled
overheating, and I was on the hunt to find ways of making my sled engine run
cooler. One of the things I wanted to try was Royal Purple, Purple Ice Radiator
Coolant Additive.
I received my Purple Ice in mid summer and decided to try it
out in my Yamaha Raptor 700 project atv, and after putting this additive in the
bikes coolant system I never had an overheating problem again all summer.
Fair enough, when it came time to get to my sled, I had
already went through the engine adding many performance parts, such as
aftermarket Chuckaroo Head, and Dyno Port Exhaust components too. I re jetted my
carbs and shimmed the needles so I know we were a little fatter in the carbs
when I was done. I know I was asking for overheating problems with all the
equipment I had added,
As you can see in the picture above of our test run on the
engine, this isn't snake oil that I am running, this is the real deal. I
installed the correct amount of Purple Ice to match the amount of antifreeze
mixture I was running, and crossed my fingers.
First of all, I was too sure if my engine was going to run
after I had wrenched on it, but she fired up no problem. I run the engine in and
watched for leaks, and everything was just fine. I checked the temperature gauge
and got the numbers listed above.
Me being the skeptic, I run the test again a couple of days
later. The temperature gauge after warming up quickly moved to 3 bars, then
jumped to 4 bars. It was all I could do to let this 2 stroke set there and idle
for tens minutes in 42 degree weather. But I held in there and the sled engine
held in there, and after 10 minutes, the temperature gauge was sitting happily
on 4 bars.
I rest my case, if that doesn't prove a point, you better
stick to walking, but I am sure you will get way hotter!
Bottom line is if your engine tends to run a little warm, one
thing you might try after you have checked your engine and cooling system for
faults, is Royal Purple, Purple Ice. I now run this additive in
all my vehicles and am glad I did.
