Heavy Duty Race Shades

Specs:

Heavy Duty (H.D.) Race Shades are very strong and durable.

Legs are 1.60" square tube.

They are great for those bad weather conditions and hold up well to abuse.

Available sizes include 10'x10', 10'x15', and 10'x20'; only available in aluminum.

Each shade includes a carrying bag and stakes.

My Impressions of the 10'x10' Heavy Duty Race Shade:

Pros:

Heavy, durable, 1.60" square tube legs, with sturdy framework.

10'x10' Cover is universal, so if you have extra tops they will fit this frame.

Comes with hardware to hold it down, but chances are this heavy weight is going no where.

Cons:

This base frame is heavy, and you will need a couple of people to put it up. Not really a con, because chances are you will have to drive a truck over it to wreck it.

Bottom Line:

I have went through 4 Tent shades over the past 3 years, all from different manufacturers. So when Pro-Wheel Racing asked me to try one of their heavy duty Shades I was skeptical.

I have to tell you their heavy duty model is just that, be prepared to have a helper assist you with the set up.

The top goes on easy and is held secure by Velcro and straps.

Last year at this time during our annual Halloween party was the fateful demise of my last tent shade, which happened during high winds. The frames just could not handle the Michigan winds or environment. I even had it secured to the ground with pegs. We went atving that night and left it outside only to be blown to bits. It looked like it had gone through a hurricane.

This year I purposely left the Pro-Wheel racing Shade out in the same conditions but without pegs to secure it to the ground. To my amazement, it survived without even bugging a bit. So long term use will let us know how it stands up to day to day use, but I am already convinced that we cannot kill this frame. The beauty of this frame is you can use any 10x10 cover on it if you get tired of the original cover.

Bottom line, before you spend your hard earned money on a cheaper less sturdy model, better take a look at what Pro-Wheel racing has for you.
