Start by taking the front plastic and wheels off. I use a cheap ATV jack to get the machine off the ground. It would also make things easier if you had a regular floor jack to raise and lower the strut.
Free the strut
You will need to remove the clip on top of the strut bolt in order to get the nut off. Once you remove the nut on top, pull down on the strut to get it out from under the strut tower.
Compress the spring
I used a ratcheting tie down to compress the stock spring. I found it convenient to hook the oposite end to the a-arm.
Remove the clip
Once the stock spring is compressed enough, the clip that holds the spring on needs to come out.
Remove the cover
Before the tension is released, the strut rod needs to be pushed below the lip of the black plastic sleeve. Release the tension on the strap and remove the spring and plastic cover. Be careful not to get hit with a flying spring
Install the adjustable collar
Install the Progressive adjustable collar as per the manufacturers instructions. Slide the spring over the collar. There is only one way that it fits (big side down).
Move the strut in to place
Use the strut tower to your advantage. Move the spring under the strut tower. Pull up on the strut rod until it is in place to put the nut on. Install the nut.
Compress the spring
Using your floor jack under the steering nuckle, compress the spring by jacking it up. I used these straps to keep the spring compressed for the next step.
Intsall the clip
Carefully lower the jack until you have enough room to reinstall the factory clip to hold the spring in place. Install the strut cover that is now cut down to size. Install the factory retaining clip.
Lower the steering nuckle
Using your floor jack again, lift the spring back into its compressed position. Remove the straps and lower the jack.
Install the plastic
Don't forget to install the clip that holds the nut on top of the strut.
