Product Review

Product: - OGIO Hydration Pack
Review Date: - Jan 2007

First Impression:

Once again Ogio has impressed me with their design capabilities. It seems as though they think of everything and then add a little more to put their products over the top.

Field Test:

One of the first things that I noticed about the Hydration Pack was the rear entry zipper for the bladder system. Other hydration packs that I have used I have always had a hard time stuffing the bladder down into the pack because the opening is either too small or it is shared space with another compartment. Ogio has solved this problem by creating a large entry pocket that is accessible from the back side of the pack.

More and more, people are using audio players when they ride; I know that I do. Ogio has added an audio pouch with a small port that allows for wires to pull through.

There is a good sized tool pocket with elastic straps to organize your tools and keep them from wandering around inside the pack. I found that there is more than enough room to carry what I wanted to take with me on short rides.

A mesh pocket sits up high on the pack and I use this for items like my throat microphones and sunscreen. There is one very thin pocket in between the mesh pocket and tool pocket. I am not sure what the intension for this pocket is, but I find that my truck keys and cash fit just right.

Also included in this design is an expandable strap system that is designed to hold a helmet or jacket. There is no way that this will hold my large MX helmets, but it is handy to hold my extra clothing that I have shed throughout the day of riding.

The bladder design is on of my favorite parts of this pack. Rather than having a small opening to add water and ice, the entire top of the bladder opens up to allow for easy filling and complete cleaning. One thing that I was disappointed not to see was an insulation system for the drinking tube. I find that in the cold, the water freezes in the tube and in the summer, the water gets warm fairly fast.

Pros:

    Great design
    High quality
    Awesome bladder design

Cons:

Drinking tube has no added insulation

Bottom Line

I highly recommend the Ogio Hydration Pack. Ogio has yet again developed a high quality and usable product.
