Muzzy Exhaust System. All product used in this Field Test and Review have been provided courtesy of Muzzys Performance Products

We have decided to be bold here at ATVPT and turn the 700 Prairie into a performer, with the addition of the Muzzy Exhaust System along with a 730 Kit from Fundy Power Sports.

We feel that Muzzys performance products produces a true 2 into 1 tuned length lightweight exhaust for your Prairie. 

With features like full stainless steel construction, and it is also 5 pounds lighter than stock.

The system also includes a sharp looking brightly polished round aluminum muffler with polished billet aluminum end caps.

For noise sensitive reasons, we are using the Muzzys optional modular quiet core and spark arrestor kit.

We are excited about doing this build and we will start out with the Muzzys Exhaust System first and see how it performs and time allowing, we will get over to Ray's at Fundy Power Sports and whip us up some fun for this Prairie, eh!

Installation:

I found that with any exhaust system installation, it is necessary to re-jet & shim the carbs to allow us better gains in the performance that the system offers you.

Jetting & Shimming of Carbs. With a our Full Muzzy System, we are using 145 Front & 148 Rear Keihin Round for this application on the Prairie 700, supplied courtesy of CPW(216-635-1099).

I started by loosely fitting the rear Muffler canister along with the 2 into one collector. Follow the Muzzy provided directions.

Loosely fit the 2 into 1 header pipe to the mid section of pipe and the rear head pipe.

Close up of 2 into 1 collector. Notice how Muzzy has effectively attached the pipes with springs. This is proving very durable so far.

The most difficult part of the installation is lining up the equal length pipes so they fit correctly and don't hit the frame. I made sure that I took lots of pictures of different views to help make this part a little easier.

Remember to install the heat shield on the new exhaust system.

Front head pipe.

Close up of front head pipe. Notice the front head pipe clamp. Make sure these clamps are tight, and the pipes do not touch the frame after you have tightened everything.

My Impressions:

  • Pros:
  • Since I installed the Muzzys Muffler system on our 700 Kawasaki Prairie project ATV, I cannot think about how much this muffler is at home on my team green machine. One thing Muzzys does is build a product to make the Kawasaki Shine.
  • I was told previous to installing the Muzzys system would be noisy and unbearable. It is a good thing I do not listen to gossip like that. This muffler with the quiet insert installed is not much louder then the SuperTrapp System which is a very pleasant sound with nice performance gains.
  • That is where the similarity ends, the Muzzys is an equal length header system which translates into more power.
  • Fit and finish on the Muzzys is the best that I have seen so far.

  • Cons:
  • I had fits getting the center section of this system installed. Once I figured it out, it was much easier. I took plenty of pictures of the mid section to show you what it should look like when you install your Muzzy muffler system.

  • Bottom line:
  • This is a must have muffler for your ATV. I would highly recommend this system. Long term has determined excellent durability, and we are confident that this system will hold up just fine for a long time.
 
  • Note:
  • We installed this muffler to compliment the Fundy Power Sports 730 Kit that we will be installing very soon at Ray's Place in Nova Scotia. Hopefully we will be able to get there in time to see the new shop christening.
