Eliminates risk of damage to the undercarriage or bogie
wheels, like you could get with a drill.
Easy, fast turning acme thread only requires a couple turns of
the handle to cut the hole in the track.
Tube in the handle holds track plugs, eliminating plugs lying
around on your track.
Cutter can be replaced when dull.
There are 2 ways to get your hole in the track for your studs,
drill it or use the Motion Pro Track Cutter Tool. I have tried both products and
found the Motion Pro tool to work excellent.
It takes little effort to cut a hole in your track, especially
my single ply track. I have not had a chance to try this tool on a dual ply
The key feature I like is the fact that you cannot damage any
part of your suspension with this tool. The drill bit works very nice, but if
you are not careful you could drill a hole in a bogie or your shock. With the
Motion Pro Track Cutter you have no fear of doing anything to your track but
making holes for your studs.
I can't say that this tool is any faster then using a drill
bit, but it is simple to use, makes a nice clean hole, and hard to mess up.
One of the cool features is after you cut your stud hole, the
plug gets stored in the handle automatically. When the handle is full, just take
the rubber plug off and dump your plugs in the trash. This is a great way of
keeping your work area clean. With the drill bit, after you cut a hole the plug
falls on the floor making a mess. Picking up those little plugs off of the shop
floor is a pain to do.
The bottom line is I found by using the Motion Pro Track
Cutter to make my holes for my stud installation, the job went smoothly and
effortlessly. I would highly recommend talking a look at the Motion Pro
Snowmobile Tools if you plan on studding your tracks. Just beware, because if
your friends find out you have these tools, you might find yourself busier then
you want to be.
