My Impressions:
Pros:
2 piece construction allows several opened positions plus the
removal of the top section.
CNC cut 1/4" thick GE MR 10 Polycarbonate windshield.
Durable, quality built attachment clamps & hindges.
Easy maintenance with normal polycarbonate cleaning
procedures.
Cons:
None
Bottom Line:
When KYMCO let me know there was a split windshield available
for the KYMCO UXV 500 I ready told them to send one my way. You can get by
without a windshield, but it is really nice to have when the weather turns
chilly or it starts to rain.
The beauty of the UXV Full Tilt Windshield is it's modular
design. You can run with the windshield in several positions, open in 2
positions, or completely remove the upper windshield for warm days. You can do
all this without using any tools, just wing nuts hold the pivot arms in place,
and once you remove them, it's just a matter of flipping the windshield up and
removing it for open air riding. With the upper windshield removed you still
have the bottom piece which still gives you some protection from the wind, but
allows you a clear, unobstructed view ahead.
This windshield is very easy to clean and should be cleaned
like any polycarbonate piece of glass, carefully! I have had mine through
everything and it still has no scratch's yet. Just be careful when you clean it
and you will have a nice windshield for a long time.
You do get some dust in with the full windshield closed, but
there is a rear shield that you can also get from the KYMCO accessories catalog
which will keep the dust from coming in behind you. I may try this just to see
how it works, but it is not a problem for me just the way it is now.
Bottom line is, if you want to keep some of the elements &
some cold air off your face while driving your side by side, then you should
take a peek at the KYMCO Accessories Catalog and check out their UXV Full Tilt
Windshield. It is well worth the investment, and I am glad I have mine installed
now.
