Most of us ATV riders like to take extended trips on our machines, taking long scenic rides exploring the countryside. One of the worst things that could happen on an extended ride is running out of fuel or water. Most ATV’s offer enough on board fuel in the tank for the average recreational rider to last a good full days ride. But some of us may ride further and require more fuel, or just desire having the peace of mind of knowing you won’t run out if you so happened to get lost or veer of course. Also it’s nice to help a fellow rider on the trail who may be in need of fuel or water.
I searched around and I found this very unique Fuel and Water Pack system made by Kolpin, so I thought I should definitely give them a try. I find these Fuel and Water Packs to be one of a kind design, and are specifically designed to be secured to your ATV racks while still allowing use of the racks for strapping down other supplies and/or accessories. Let’s give them a whirl!
These Fuel and Water Packs are supplied with some handy Velcro straps, combined with the integrated slots in the packs, this makes for a fast, secure placement of them to your ATV racks. The straps are even long enough so you can strap even two packs together one on rack. I am concerned of the Velcro straps over time getting clogged up with dirt and mud, but time will only tell. The low profile design of these packs is very intuitive, they allow you to stack multiple packs, and yet allow room to strap on other things on top of them. The geometry makes perfect sense being nearly 3ft long and only 2 ¼” inches tall, they boast an impressive 3 1/4 Gallon capacity, yet have minimal impact on your luggage carrying capability and machine profile. They are made of sturdy High density cross-link polyethylene and have a 500lb “stack on top” rating. Both the Fuel and Water packs come with a nice flexible pour spout and have a venting valve for fast smooth pouring. One thing I’m concerned about is the vent valve sticks out in the closed (carrying) position, I’m concerned about this catching on something and getting broke off, we’ll see if our testing proves otherwise.
