First Impressions: |
| There is a pretty wide selection of ATV luggage available on the market today. One could spend a lot of time looking at all the options. When choosing luggage, the most important factors to me are function, quality and then last but not least appearance. I am primarily a woods and trail rider, and I also spend a fair amount of time using my ATV for utility and sporting as well. When I looked at the Kolpin Matrix Bag, my first impression was that it was going to suit my needs. I needed luggage that can be packed with apparel, food/beverages, hunting/utility goods, various electronic valuables, and all the while holding up to aggressive trail riding and abusive elements. | |
Field Test: |
| Installation was quite pleasant and painless, thanks to thoughtful design and well placed attachment straps with quick release clips. Initial installation took me about 20mins, which involves setting up the straps to fit any particular ATV model. In my case where I had to put some slots in the plastic guard on my rack so the straps could go through. After the initial set up, taking the bag off and on is a snap, and can be done in a jiffy. I used this bag on my ATV for about 2 months in a variety of conditions involving trail riding, sporting and utility. I was quite pleased with the quality of materials and design of this luggage. It’s clearly designed to withstand a variety of elements which any ATV rider would encounter. The zippers are well protected with stitched in lining and flaps the help protect from dirt and mud. The Hydro Shield™ exterior material does a fine job of resisting mud and water. The center main section is plastic lined, which acts both as a cooler retaining ice and water, yet also provides protection from the elements outside. The side bags are water resistant, but not “waterproof”. This 3pc modular design is very sensible as this luggage can be used as a 1-2-3 pc set up. | |

Bottom Line |

I really went out of my way to use and abuse this luggage as you can see by the pictures. I used this bag trail riding over 200miles in various terrains and conditions. I left my luggage on my atv on several road trips, and it has held up fine with no damage…I’m impressed. |
