HOW THE KEWLTEK BRAKE SYSTEM WORKS

It is possible to add a right hand master cylinder and run hoses from it down to the front calipers and just stack the banjo connections at the calipers.  Both master cylinders will drive the calipers but the problem with that system is that if you only actuate one master cylinder at a time you will just push the brake fluid from one master cylinder into the other one because the feed port in the other master cylinder will still be open to the reservoir.  So that configuration simply does not work!

The Kewltek brake system uses a special control valve that has two inputs and one output.  This valve keeps the fluid from each master cylinder completely separate so that it is not possible to pump brake fluid from one master cylinder to the other.  It allows each hand master cylinder to be operated completely independently from the other or it allows them to be used together and the pressure, but not the fluid, from each will add together giving maximum braking power.

Getting ready to install the Kewltek Right Hand Front Brake Kit.

This kit comes complete and ready for you to install. I would suggest having your local shop install this brake kit if you are not mechanically inclined. Remember, you are working with your brakes here! This is not an area you need to experiment with if you are not comfortable doing so.

Before & After

We are ready to do our installation. Like I said, if you are not comfortable working on your brake system, have your local shop do this project for you. The directions supplied by Kewltek are first class and easy to follow. Make sure you wash your ATV thoroughly before you start this project. You don't need to be contaminating your brake fluid with any foreign materials. When I squeeze that brake lever, I want braking action!

I am only going to touch on a few key area's of the installation. Kewltek has the installation down pat. When you do your installation, if you choose to do so, make sure you follow their directions to the letter.
A good thing to do when you first get your kit, is to lay out your parts, and read over the directions before you begin to tear into your ATV.

Before you install the Kewltek Control Valve you need to drill 2 holes for mounting. I found it easier to drill the holes by unhooking the shock from the top mount, and sliding it back out of the drills way. This makes it easy to line up your drill to make your holes.

When you mount your pressure switch on the new control valve, you will need to splice the wires into the rear master control cylinders pressure switch wires. I first found a good spot to do my splice, and attached the wires. It is good practice to solder your wires. I also used liquid tape, and after that completely dried, I topped my splice off with black electrical tape.
It seems kind of extreme, but this should keep any moisture from making contact and interfering with your electrical connection.

My Impressions:

Pros:
The kit is very straight forward to install. It is nice to have two set's of hands when you bleed your brakes, but not necessary.

The whole kit is top shelf, and every part fit exactly how it was supposed too.

I like the fact that you get extra brake pressure/brake force when you apply both hand levers at the same time.

Cons:
Provided black brake lever did not match oem lever's color. Note: Kewltek made immediate changes, and now provide chrome brake levers that match the factory brake levers finish.

Bottom Line:
To me this is a must have accessory if you are making that transition from other vehicles that have the right hand front braking system. Once you get used to using a right hand brake that actuates the front brakes by them selves, you will truly miss this when you acquire an ATV that does not have this braking system.
I use my front brakes when cornering, and doing other maneuvers. Having the ability to have extra braking force when you apply both brake levers is a plus, especially if you are piloting the Renegade.
If you miss having the option of a front brake control, I would highly recommend taking a look at what Kewltek Performance has to offer you. I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

Note: Make sure you double check for leaks before you ride. It is also a good idea to make sure you have your brakes bled properly too.
