I was raised in the foothills of NC, I’ve been hooked on motorcycles
and ATV’s since my first mini-bike at age five. At seven, my first
four-wheeler came in the form of a single seat go-cart that my Dad put
together. I couldn’t quite reach the pedals, so he re-located them
closer to my feet. I watched him wrench with wide open eyes, taking it
all in. I remember it was powered by a 3.5 hp Tecumseh and it ran
pretty good, but it wasn’t long before I wanted to go faster. When Dad
thought I was ready, he motioned for me to ride over. With me still
sitting on the cart, he tinkered with the engine for a minute and then
told me to “Hit it”. I didn’t know that he had un-hooked the governor.
I took off wide open with my One Wheel Drive “limited grip” searching
for traction in the dirt. When it finally hooked up, I remember
thinking “WOW! You’re pretty cool Dad! How did you do that???” My first
performance modification was forever etched into my mind. The “mods”
have been on ever since.
I currently ride a 2004 Suzuki Twin Peaks
700. It’s virtually identical to a
Kawasaki Prairie, so there are many aftermarket products and DIY mods
available. I can’t leave anything stock
it seems, and that is what eventually led to my position as the ATVPT Eastern
Regional Operations Director. I also currently
work as a machine designer, but my dream job is to be involved with quad design
and proving those designs on the track and trail.
I have an 11 year old daughter that also likes
to ride. Here is Victoria proving that she is her fathers’
daughter!
