Internet Vehicle Purchasing Made Painless.

Story Reported by ATVPT's Pres. / Patrick Saunders
A painless way to get the vehicle you need, without the hassle of dealing with the stereo-typed "Tin Man"sales person (that is lurking behind every car you want to take a look at).Look for your vehicle from the privacy of your own home, (your castle) where no one will disturb you while you find the ideal car to match your needs.
All you need is a computer and Internet access to start your search. One of the key things to think about, is what type of vehicle will fit your needs and budget? After all purchasing a vehicle to most people during their lives, will be the second most expensive thing you will be buying besides your home.
Take your time and do the research before you make that leap. After we figure out what type and make of vehicle you will be purchasing, lets go to the vehicle manufacturers web site to check out their model line up.

In our case we chose Honda, over the other manufacturers that offered similar equipped vehicles. The vehicle of choice for us was the Honda Odyssey Van, type EX-L RES because of its history of reliability & passenger carrying capacity. This van will meet, and exceed the duties that will be required for this vehicle to perform on a daily basis.

We will take you though the entire Internet Purchasing process from the Manufacturer Internet Search to the final delivery of the Vehicle.

Internet Sales Professional Facts:

  • Note:
  • Today's Internet Sales Profession is a very highly trained educated person, with training in computers, customer support, vehicle product knowledge, etc.. This person is very sensitive about asking the correct questions to help figure out what the "Consumer" really needs for a vehicle (not what the "Tin Man" would like to see moved off of the dealers lot).
  • In the old days of car sales you were told if you knew 5% more then the customer, you were ahead of the game. Today's consumer has many more available tools to do their research before they make a new vehicle purchase, one source being the Internet.

Step by Step as We Take You Through The Whole Process!

Note: Click on the links to see where we visited the Honda Web Site. Follow along as we make our new vehicle purchase.

Step 1: Go to the web address of the vehicle manufacturer of your choice. In this case we chose Honda.

Step 2: Go to the vehicle models.

Step 3: We chose the Odyssey Van.

Step 4: Pick your options, trim, color, etc..

Step 5: Then request a quote.

Step 6: The dealers that you ask for a quote will e-mail you with their fairest price, on the vehicle that you have asked them to give you a quote on. No pressure, no parking lot high pressure "Tin Man" trying to get you into a car that you don't need, to help him make his monthly quota. At this point if you do not like the Quoted price and feel you need to negotiate, just reply with an e-mail to your Internet Trained Vehicle Sales Specialist. You are all set if you and the dealership can come up with a price that makes both of you happy. You have your vehicle deal on a new set of wheels, and you haven't left home or been subjected to any undo pressure.

Step 7: Once you have agreed on a price, and payment plan, you will need to contact your Sales Specialist to supply him with your personal information that will allow him or her to do the necessary paperwork to secure your financing, plates transfer, and everything else involved with your sale. The beauty of this, is you still have absolutely no sales pressure, and you have already chosen your vehicle and have made your decision to purchase completely un effected by the "Tin Man".

Step 8: You still haven't stepped foot on the dealerships property and you have made your purchase. Now it's time to set up a delivery date, so you can go to the dealership, finish your final paper work, and pick up your vehicle.

Step 9:

  • We arrive at Capital Honda to finalize our new vehicle purchase.
  • Capital Honda is a great choice for our choice of vehicle dealership because of location, service, and customer appreciation.

Step 10:

  • We meet Capital Honda's Internet Sales Specialists who helped us to purchase our new vehicle.

Step 11:

  • Dustin Rocha with the Sales and Leasing Department going over the features of the Odyssey Van, and finishing up some final paperwork.

Step 12:

  • Patrick Richardson, going over the financial paperwork, and still not much stress.
  • Thank you.

Step 13:

  • You have purchased your vehicle, but that is only a part of the buying program.
  • Make sure that you check out your service department. After all they will be the ones that you will be dealing with after you pick up your new vehicle.
  • Note: Capital Honda service reps appear to be very friendly, and their service waiting area is well set up and "kid friendly". They have a large waiting area, coffee, and tons of reading material. I noticed that the shop area was super clean and well taken care of. I will have no problems bringing my car in here for maintenance and service as required.

Step 14:

  • Vehicle delivery was excellent. Dustin Rocha gave an excellent vehicle briefing, pointing out all the features of the Odyssey Van that he had gone over in his office previously.
  • Note: Capital Honda's delivery area is airconditioned for the hot summer months, and heated in the winter. The doors can be closed so you are out of the weather to receive your new vehicle.

Step 15:

  • Kris VanNocker & Dustin Rocha of Capital Honda seeing another happy customer off.

My Impressions of the Internet Vehicle Purchasing Program

  • Pros:
  • You can do your research of vehicles and dealerships from home.
  • No stress, no hassle, and you save money by not driving all over the country checking out dealer lots.
  • Miss meeting the "Tin Man".
  • If needed, you can have your new vihicle ordered from home through the dealership you will be doing business with.
  • Cons:
  • None.  Too bad you cannot purchase ATV's as easy over the internet like this.
  • Bottom Line:
  • I would highly recommend using this method to research and purchase your new vehicle. I have purchased my last 2 vehicles this way, and I plan on doing the next one's like this as well.
  • I would also recommend Capital Honda to anyone. They are a "top shelf company".
