My
Impression:
Pros:
HRP's ice scratchers prevent hi-fax wear and overheating when
riding on ice or hard-packed snow.
Hooks over rails when not in use.
HRP offers individual replacement springs.
Cons:
None.
Bottom Line:
If you run the type of trails
like I do, or you have larger paddles on your track, engine cooling will be an
issue sometimes. I chose Holz Racing Products Ice Scratchers because of their
claim that when in use their Ice Scratchers will lower water temperature up to 30
degrees F on hard pack snow.
Those are big numbers and I know these ice scratchers will
come in handy this winter when we are running down icy trails. Remember, heat
robs performance, and a cool running engine will he a happy
engine.
Installation is straight forward, and can be done with a drill
and a few tools, which most people will already have in your tool
box anyway.
This is a very easy project to do. If you are running the flat
lands like I do, and do not run in powder snow like the mountain guys, maybe
check out how I installed my ice scratchers. I have a long track and I know they work great where I installed them. If you have a short track,
this type of installation may not work for you. Consult with Holz Racing before
you do your installation on your sled.
I was running the trails at slow speed the other day during one of our winter warm spells, and my sled was running between 5 and 6 bars on the temp gauge. I dropped my ice scratchers, and within a mile down the trail my sled was running between 3 and 4 bars on the temperature gauge. This is about the best test of the Holz Ice Scratchers that you can get, and they passed with flying colors.
We all know that heat is an issue on the trails sooner or
later, and installing these ice scratchers will effectively cure that problem
when needed.
Bottom Line, if you are looking to cool your snowmobile's
engine, take a look at what Holz Racing Products has for your sled. I went Holz
and am glad I did!
