Product Review

Product: - 25" GBC Dirt Devil ATV Tires
Machine: - Kawasaki Prairie
Review Date: - July 2006

First Impressions:

I have mounted the 25" GBC Dirt Devil AT tires on the stock wheels of my 2003 Kawasaki Prairie 650. The first thing that I noticed is that the sidewalls are designed such that they protect the wheels much better than the stock tires do. These tires have a flat shape rather than rounded and I should notice an improvement in traction. The tread pattern is much more aggressive than stock and it appears that the design will be best for hard pack and rock conditions. This is not my first set of 25" Dirt Devil A/T ATV Tires. The tires have not changed since I tried them the first time and I expect good results as I test them again.

Field Test:

I am very impressed at how well these tires do in the sand compared to stock. I have no trouble with going anywhere that I want to without worrying about getting stuck trying to climb a dune.

The GBC Dirt Devil Tires do very well in hard pack and gravel conditions up to about 40 - 45 MPH. I noticed that riding at high speeds (50 - 64) the Dirt Devils get a little light footed and wander just a little bit. Compared to stock, there is not much difference at the higher speeds on hard pack conditions.

I was confident enough in these tires to stop on a hill that is mostly hard pack with a little gravel and loose dirt on it. I had no problems getting going again and even brought up the front end.

I was very surprised to find out how well the Dirt Devil Tires did with hooking up on rocks. Other people in my group had a difficult time going slow over the rocks due to the traction of their stock tires. I had no problem hooking up on the slick rock for a clean transfer to the soft sand.

At the same time of the Dirt Devil testing, I was using my machine to pull a trailer. The trailer and load was quite a bit extra weight than one would normally pull. The Dirt Devils hooked up with no problem and I was able to tow the trailer through some very rough and steep terrain thanks to the traction and protection of the Dirt Devils. These tires have been through some pretty serious terrain and the Paiute is no exception. Most of the trail is hard packed dirt with rocks embedded deep down. There are some water crossings and a little mud with the occasional fallen tree. The trail ranges anywhere from about 5,000' to roughly 11,000'. I set the tire pressure once at about 9,000' and did not have to adjust it at any other times during the trip. These tires have treated me very well and the tread life appears to be long lasting with the amount of miles that I have traveled so far.

Pros:

    Aggressive tread
    Smooth Ride
    Nice wheel protection
    Durable side walls
    Truly "all terrain"

Cons:

Tires wander a little at high speeds.

Bottom Line

I recommend the 25" Dirt Devil A/T ATV Tires to anyone that wants to replace the factory tire with an inexpensive alternative that will out-perform the OEM tire in all situations.

5 Mile Pass - Northern Utah

I had the chance to take my Dirt Devils to Utah for some testing, so I took it.

San Rafael Swell - Central Utah

We thought it would be fitting to try the Dirt Devil A/T on the Devil's Race Track located in the San Rafael Swell area of Central Utah.
I was very surprised to find out how well the Dirt Devil Tires did with hooking up on rocks.

The little bit of mud that I could find, I found that the tires did just fine.

The trail ranges anywhere from about 5,000' to roughly 11,000'.  I set the tire pressure once at about 9,000' and did not have to adjust it at any other times during the trip.  Here is a picture of the Dirt Devils at 11,200'.  These tires have treated me very well and the tread life appears to be long lasting with the amount of miles that I have traveled so far.
