| When I first received the box clamps, I was a concerned with how solid that the clamp could hold the box to my rack. When I installed the clamps, I quickly learned that I was wrong with my first impression. The box is mounted more solid with these clamps than it ever was with the U-Bolts or straps and buckle system.
One of my associates installed the clamps before I did and he suggests removing the rack to line up and drill the holes. I do not think that this is necessary. I was able to line up the holes by pushing a wood screw through the hole in the clamp when holding it in place, making an impression in the box plastic where I needed to drill a hole. One thing that I recommend is using a different bolt to go with the bracket. The bolt that comes with the kit is a thumb screw type and it sticks up in the bottom of the box. This bolt does make the box removable without tools; however, the heads on the bolts could cause damage to the cargo inside your box. I used Allen head screws and all I have to carry is one Allen wrench to be able to remove the box. See the pictures below. A nice feature of the clamps is that you don’t have to remove them completely to get the box off your rack. Just loosen the bolt and twist the bracket |
