  • Note: Hopefully you have your shop manual open for this one. You need the torque specs and related tech tips to do this job correctly.
  • We are doing a complete R&R of the rotors and brake pads on the Raptor Project and replacing the OEM hardware with DP Brakes & Rotors.
  • When ever I work on my brake system, the first thing I do, is take off my brake reservoir covers. Wrap a towel around them as shown in picture 1, so you don't spill any brake fluid on your atv and the ground.
  • The reason for doing this is you will have to release the pressure on your brake lines so you can fit the new pads in the calipers. I use a C-Clamp to press the pucks in all the way. If you don't do this your calipers will not fit on the Rotors.
  • Note: It is a good thing to have your atv supported on a atv jack at this time, so you can remove your wheels and Rotors with ease. If you don't have an atv jack use stands and a jack to do so, or do the front and rear separately.
  • Remove your calipers from the front and the rear of the atv like shown in picture 2.
  • Remove your oem rotor assembly from the front, and remove your rotor from the rear as shown in picture 3 & 4 & 5.
  • The rotors only fit one way, and that is with the bolt recess facing out towards your bolt heads as shown in picture 6. This allows your bolt heads to be recessed so they don't rub, and they secure the rotor better so they don't shift while in use.
  • Make sure you use loctite on your bolts when you install your new rotors.
  • Reinstall your rear rotor and front rotor assembly's as shown in picture 7 & 8, and you are ready to install the new DP Brakes.
  • Note: Refer to the brake pads review & installation below for your next part of the project.

Note: I highly advise having a Yamaha Shop Manual before doing any project like this, and also it helps to have some mechanical knowledge as well.
Remember you are working on parts of your atv here that you can not afford to have issues with!

My Impressions:

Pros:
Quality built, and nice looking appearance.

Fitment is excellent.

Cons:
None yet.

Bottom Line:
If you need to replace your rotors at any time, and you will have to do so eventually, I would highly recommend you taking a look at what DP has to offer you in Rotors and also Brake Pads.

They are above OEM replacement quality and we are very happy with the way they installed perfect, and by the way they perform.

Long term use will let us know how well they hold up to rigorous trail riding.
