DG Nerf Race Peg # 609-4180

Features & facts:

  • Nerf bars are usually the first item you should install on your ATV.
  • DG combines lightweight 6061 aluminum tubing, with hi-strength steel connectors.
  • Heel Guard Nerf Bars feature an integrated heel guard & Stainless Steel laser-cut replaceable footpegs.
  • High tensile strength black webbing.

Installation:

1. Install the webbing onto the nerf bars, and now is the time to set the webbing to suit your driving style.
2. Remove the oem plastic heel guards.
3. Position front nerf bar bracket over frame gusset, behind lower a-arms.
Note: We installed the full skid plate, so you will have to drill a hole for your bolt to attach to the nerf bar bracket.
4. Install the supplied bolt through bottom of frame gusset and bracket. Start your lock nut but do not tighten yet.
5. Install your right nerf bar onto tube of forward bracket, and line up holes of rear bracket to rear holes in foot peg.
6. Start bolts through foot peg bracket, and foot peg, but do not tighten yet.
7. Install bolts through nerf bar, and front bracket.
8. Repeat steps 5 through 7 for left nerf bar.
9. Tighten bolts on front bracket, foot pegs, and forward tube. Note: In this order.
10. Install brake reservoir bracket & cover.
Note: Before riding make sure to check that the webbing on your nerf bars does not interfere with the operation of the shift & brake levers.

My impressions:

Pros:
Integrated heel guard.

 Stainless Steel laser-cut replaceable foot-pegs.

High strength webbing.

Alloy aluminum construction.

Cons:
Only con is why doesn't the factory Sport ATV come standard with nerf bars?

Bottom Line:
Well, you know my opinion on nerfs. I refuse to ride an ATV that does not have a set of nerf bars installed.

I do not think it is very safe to ride with your legs & feet unprotected like that.

I can just envision coming over a jump and having your leg get caught under the rear tires. This would not be a pretty scene, especially if you were 40 miles back in the wilderness.

So, do you need a nerf bar on your ATV, heck yes, and do yourself a favor and install a set if haven't already.

The bottom line is that I highly endorse a product that will help to protect you while riding, and DG performance is what we use for our insurance policy.
