2007 Can-Am Renegade 800 by BRP

Many Renegade components have been developed with feedback from Can-Am Factory

GNCC champion racers Mike Penland and Scott Kilby.

They’ve commented that the Renegade is a no-compromises ATV.

They can rail it around corners, take jumps, and then scramble over wicked terrain or mud bog it.

It can pretty much do anything, and with style.

The minimalist, edgy bodywork is like nothing the industry’s seen.

As more ATV drivers have discovered the recreational possibilities of their quad – trail riding and touring with recreation-utility vehicles; desert and riding courses for sport vehicles – a

growing number of drivers have had to make big compromises.

The uncompromising adrenaline seeker that likes to get off the beaten path.

A sport bike has the performance and looks he craves, but lacks the capability to get out into the

backcountry or nasty conditions.

The toughness and four-wheel-drive capability of a 4x4 can get them where they want to go, but not in the high-performance way they want to get there.

BRP has the quad for them – the 2007 Can-Am Renegade.

With the best features of the Outlander rec-ute model mated with a host of new performance equipment, the Renegade is the

first serious recreation-sport ATV.

On the performance side, there is the Rotax 800H.O. EFI engine, revised front and rear longtravel suspensions with HPG shocks and a cutting-edge wheel and tire combination. For allterrain

capability, the Renegade quad is equipped with the Visco-Lok four-wheel drive system, strong and lightweight Surrounding Spar Technology (SST) frame, and a winch-capable front bumper.

In all, the Renegade is 42 pounds lighter (19 kg) than the Outlander 800H.O. EFI

model, for great acceleration and light handling.

RS-Type Performance Suspensions

  • The suspensions are similar to the ones that have received so much praise on the Outlander models – but have been reworked not to isolate drivers from the terrain, but connect them to it.
  • Long travel with high performance HPG shocks make the Renegade ready for dismantling corners like a surgeon and taking on the rough stuff with ease.
  • In front, the dive-control geometry of the new RS-Type double A-arm set-up with aluminium upper arm tightly controls the roll center, especially getting into corners. Travel is up to nine-inches (22.8 cm), and the improved motion ratio strokes the shocks more efficiently.
  • Shock mounts are reinforced for intense riding.
  • The fully independent  RS-Type TTI rear suspension takes on duties in the rear. Travel is up to 10 inches (25.4 cm), and there’s no scrub. The RS-Type TTI set-up is the lightest and simplest in the industry.
  • All of these handling components are mounted to the innovative SST frame. The narrow central spar surrounds the engine and acts as the quad’s backbone. In addition to having incredible torsional rigidity, the narrow profile at the undercarriage enables the Renegade ATV to easily slide over obstacles like a ski.
  • Riding on these suspensions are trick new high-tech centrecast wheels. The rims are rolled aluminum with fully-rolled edges for sport-quad strength and less weight. The wheels’s centres are cast aluminum with an “industrial” design. Together, they have the look of cast with the performance of rolled. They are fitted with aggressive ITP Holeshot ATR radial tires, delivering great acceleration in most conditions, yet a pliable sidewall to help control the ride.

Performance Powertrain

  • You can’t have a performance quad without power. And no competitive quad can match the arm-stretching acceleration of the 800H.O. EFI V-twin engine. Liquid-cooling and singleoverhead cams contribute to the take-no-prisoners power. The cylinders are oriented at an 80-degree V for smooth running.
  • The sophisticated electronic fuel injection system automatically keeps the 800H.O. engine’s performance at its peak regardless of temperature or altitude. And starting is a snap, with no choke required.
  • Power runs through a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) for instant acceleration and ultimate simplicity – there are no gears to shift. Engine braking is built-in, for confidence on descents. The CVT’s six-arm design is extremely durable and very tunable.
  • Key to the Renegade ATV’s go-anywhere capability is the Visco-Lok progressive locking front differential. It automatically transfers power away from a slipping wheel to the gripping one – all the way up to a full lock. Unlike competitive differentials, there are no buttons to push or levers to pull – the system is fully transparent to the user. The result is an easy-to-steer ATV that makes quick work of nasty obstacles and terrain.

Quad Compact digital gauge, & Quad 60W headlights.

  • High Performance Matched by Aggressive Style As a technical tour-de-force, the Renegade ATV demands aggressive styling to match its hard-hitting performance. The face is intimidating, with its sharp edges surrounding the quad 60W projector headlights. Overall, the styling is minimalist for the nimble look of a sport bike.
  • The sharply intersecting “facetized” planes communicate intensity and cutting-edge technology.
  • Even the instrumentation takes on this edgy personality, with a new  compact digital multi-function gauge. The Renegade’s seat is compact and slim, making it easy for the driver to move around in performance riding.
  • Full floorboards protect feet, while raised kick-up pegs match the Renegade’s sporting intentions.
  • Behind the seat is a cargo deck with four tie-downs and a non-slip rubber deck. A specially-styled Renegade rack and cargo bag are available as Genuine Can-Am accessories. The front sport-style bumper is winch-ready – a necessity for heading into the backcountry. The new BRP 2500 XL winch kit by Warn is a perfect complement for this quad.
