AXIO Tail Bag
Weight: 2lbs 13oz
External dimensions: 14”H x 14”W x 6.5”D

Features:

  • Tough molded polycarbonate or polyurethane hardshell.
  • Lightweight construction.
  • Sleek aerodynamic styling.
  • High-visibility reflective graphics.
  • Comfortable back rest pad.
  • Large main compartment & two smaller pockets.
  • Four Velcro straps included.
  • Converts to a shoulder pack when not in use.
  • Mesh cargo net included for extra storage.
Note: I have enough room to carry a spare belt, tow straps, Snow Bunje straps, tools to take care of minor break downs and belt removal, Slime air compressor with bottle of tire slime, tire plugs with tire plug tool, Innovative spare air, spare winch line, tape, and a few other small goodies. Needless to say I can pack all this in this little bag and still retain the sleek stylish look of the 2009 Can-Am Renegade X 800R. If we had a conventional bag on this cool looking atv, you would lose the look that sets this atv apart from other atv's in it's class!

My Impressions:

Pros:
Sleek design that fits very nice in the rear pad of the Can-Am Renegade.

Large main compartment with two small pockets with plenty of room to store your trail essentials.
Shoulder harness for carrying when not on the atv. Ours is fixed so we do not remove it from the atv.

Mesh cargo net that hooks on the rings. I used the rings to attach the bag, so you cannot use the cargo net in my application.
Tough molded polyurethane hardshell, that cleans very nicely with Armor All.

Cons:
None.

Bottom Line:
It is always a dilemma on how to carry things on the Renegade. You can get a rack for it and mount a small case on it ,but it doesn't quite look as aerodynamic that way. You can attach the oem bag, but it rubs on the plastic causing scuff marks.

When I saw the Tail Bag from AXIO I knew I had to try it out. The bag has 4 d-rings for attaching the cargo net to it for extra carrying capacity. I used ties to attach the bag to the carrying taps on the Renegade. This keeps the bag solid, so it doesn't move around when riding aggressively. You can use snaps to attach the bag if you want to easily remove it from the atv.

Make sure you do not over pack your bag with goodies. I made the mistake of trying to force the bag shut with a wrench sticking out, and killed a couple of teeth on the bag. This was my fault by being over zealous in my packing procedure. I think I have everything but the kitchen sink stuffed in this bag (As seen in the pictures above).

I advise you to put zipper wax on your zippers before you use it. In fact you should use zipper wax on any zipper that is exposed to the elements. Your zippers will work better and last longer. As a Master Scuba Instructor I always lube my expensive dry suit zippers with zipper way before I went diving. I find by carrying over this practice to atving, my zippers seal out moisture better, and I have less problems with zippers sticking.

The bottom line is this AXIO Tail Bag fits very nicely, and works very well for my application. I would highly recommend taking a look at AXIO next time you are looking to attach a smaller rear bag on your sport atv.
