First Impressions:

The first time I put on FLY 208’s, I rode in a 30mile cross country race. I don’t really remember much about them, which is exactly what the manufacturer intended. Put them on. Ride. Forget about them. They are that comfortable. It’s nice not to stop and tuck in that shirt tail that is too short, or tug on uncomfortable jeans or Carhartt’s that are constantly riding up in the thighs or sliding down in the back. That alone is worth the price of admission to me. But there is more to like. The new 208’s combine key functional features and eye catching new graphics that make their apparel (and you) stand out in a crowd.

FLY 208 RACE PANT:
Comfort and durability are apparent throughout the design. Things like stretch panels in the calf, thigh and knee areas. They are made from 7 different panels to conform to a rider’s stance a bend in the waist and in the knee. There is no binding on the top of the knee, or bunching up behind the knee. They will accommodate knee braces on the inside as well. Air flow adds to the comfort factor thanks to carefully placed mesh panels across the front and lower leg that allow the pants to breathe. There is also something that I think is an excellent touch to a riding pant – perforated leather panels placed on the inner knees where you rub the tank. These addresses the biggest friction and wear point and help the pants last a long time.
A BIG bonus to me is that the waist is adjustable at each hip. My waistline fluctuates somewhat and it’s nice to have pants that adjust to that. The clasps are heavy duty, and well as the zipper.

FLY 208 RACE JERSEY:
The first thing you notice about the jersey is that it looks cool. It’s what you don’t notice that keeps you cool and comfortable. Side panels allow air flow thru a breathable material. Other panels allow stretch and feel comfortable. I could feel the material wick away sweat fast and dry quickly as long as you stayed moving. Even the graphics are functional. They are printed silicone. This adds grip to keep your tail tucked in. The elbows are padded and the cuffs are gathered with an elastic that won’t cut of circulation, but helps keep them in place, even if they come un-tucked from your gloves.

Field Test:

The FLY 208 pants and jersey combo worked great under race conditions. They were cool and comfortable and felt soft against my skin. There was a lot of attention to detail on the inside as well and that meant nothing sticking out anywhere to irritate your skin. My knees felt free to move without restriction. The jersey staid tucked in the pants as well as inside my gloves providing maximum protection. They cleaned up nice and after several rides and a race, they still look new. I can say that they out performed a more expensive set of gear from a well known company.
